49er Sponsors Local Event to Raise Money for School
49er Online Marketing supports local community and the Penn Valley Lions Club by sponsoring the Walt Becker Memorial Trap Shoot contest at the Nevada City Sportsman club. More than $7,500 was raised for scholarships.
History:
Lion Walt Becker, the Hi-Graders last charter member, passed away in January of 2004. Friends and family wanted to find an appropriate event to commemorate “Lion Walt.” Since he loved to fish and was an avid hunter, the idea of a trap shoot seemed most fitting.
Barbara Martinez of the Tack Room and Darrell Stiving managed to put the first event together within a two-month period. The event is held every April at the Nevada County Sportsman Club. Over the years, the event has drawn more and more youth and women shooters and has supported over $60,000 in scholarship monies.
